Good managers make work fun.

Employees already know they’re not there for the good time. But if it’s fun to work for you, they’re more likely to come back for more. And to pay attention to what they’re doing, so they won’t be asked to leave.

It’s a simple guiding principle to include in the Corporate Policy and Procedures Manual for new employees:

HAVE FUN. MAKE MONEY. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

A clear statement on the first page, it answers the question, “What am I doing

here?”

Some will be shocked to see it, others will think it’s ridiculous. Or wait for your actions to prove you don’t believe in the principle yourself. Encouraging words and smiley faces are not enough.

Make work fun. It applies to you too. “Making you happy, makes me happy.”

A simple principle that leads to high performance from happy employees. Are you having fun yet?
