Keep it simple. Use a bigger hammer

We used to look back on what we learned in engineering at university and explain to the uninitiated that the three rules of engineering were simple: E=MC², F=MA, and “If at first you don’t succeed, use a bigger hammer.” Or as we learned in mining engineering, “… use more dynamite.”

You may have your own mantra to remind yourself to keep it simple and just do it. But do it right, with more effort and hard work until you finish by reaching your goal.

I accept the exhortation from Tony Robbins that “The path to success is to take massive, determined action” in his best-selling 1991 book, Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny. It’s still on my bookshelf of classics on how to be better and do better in business and in life. (I’ll be quoting from others as noted in my recommended reading list at: Recommended-Reading-for-Entrepreneurs.

Remember, there are no shortcuts that work. Invest in research and learning the fundamentals, then practice hard before you leap into massive, determined action to deliver the results. Be patient and not easily discouraged by the inevitable setbacks and be ready for the happenstance and occasional good luck that will present the opportunities that you’re looking for.
